Star Screening Machines

Vecoplan star screening machines provide separation by particle size. They are ideal for applications with large volume flows of wood, wood chips, bark, biomass, green compost and treated MSW.

The interior of a Vecoplan star screening machine has a long rectangular frame that looks somewhat like a conveyor. Star shaped disks are mounted, through their centers, on closely spaced parallel shafts positioned between the two longer sides of the frame and across the flow of material. These shafts rotate conveying material across the points, or fingers, of the stars.

The star fingers are made of a flexible synthetic material. This serves two purposes. First it prevents the fingers from breaking on tramp materials in the stream, and second it flips or bounces the material, separating the fines from the larger aggregate. Fines then fall between the open zig-zag spaces between the stars and overs are conveyed along the length, and off the end of the machine to the next processing stage.

Vecoplan star screening machines are constructed from the highest quality materials and engineered with oversized components to provide long, trouble-free service. The synthetic material used to manufacture fingers on Vecoplan star screens is formulated to provide a predetermined amount of flex, long wear life and a non-stick surface for processing green woods, mulch and other organic material that tends to cling together or to the machine.
